Before your massage, we will need to know a bit about you. We will ask you about your injury or problem, which will help us to ensure our treatment is just right for you. We will take a full medical history and will ask about your lifestyle. All this information helps us to make sure your treatment is truly holistic, effective and safe. At Stretch, we always discuss your treatment with you. The information you give us will allow us to select the methods that will be most helpful for you.

We may use myofascial release, trigger points, stretching, Swedish and remedial massage techniques. We will also give you some after-care advice to ensure that you get the best possible results.

Thai Yoga Massage

Traditional Thai massage is a combination of acupressure, reflexology and yoga, which manipulate the Sen or energy lines. Thai massage stimulates these energy pathways, encouraging the body to heal itself, alleviating stress, stimulating the metabolism and restoring balance.

We carry out our Thai massage on the floor and apply gentle techniques, using the hands, feet, elbows, knees, forearms and thumbs. A Thai yoga massage will leave you feeling stretched, refreshed and energised.

Thai massage has its roots in the Indian principles of Yoga and Ayurveda. Jivaka Komar Bhacca “The Father of Medicine”, was its founder, a physician to Buddhist monks and nuns. Thai massage was brought from India to Thailand approximately 2000 years ago and it has since been practised, developed and passed down through the generations. Jo loves this wonderfully holistic treatment, because it enables her combine her love for yoga with holistic massage, helping her clients to feel relaxed, stretched and revived.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is a popular technique for reducing stress and anxiety
Indian head massage is an ancient healing tradition based on Ayurvedic principles.

Ayurveda is Sanskrit and means life knowledge, an ancient medical practice created in India. Ayurvedic practices are now used as holistic therapies in the West and continue to be used widely in India.

Indian Head Massage is incredibly relaxing. During a massage, we will stimulate your deep pressure points to re-balance your energy. At the same time petrissage massage strokes promote relaxation. You may either have a dedicated Indian head massage or include it as part of your wider holistic massage treatment.

At Stretch, our therapists are keen to promote the use of holistic therapies and will encourage you to try them out as part of your treatment session, so that you can experience the benefits for yourself. You can either book a session of your favourite complementary therapy or enjoy a combination of therapies within your session.

Please be aware that complementary therapies should not be viewed as an alternative to seeking medical advice. Instead, please think of them as lovely, supporting and relaxing treatments.

“I have been visiting Jo for regular massages over the last few months to help relieve the tension and stress in my shoulders and neck. Jo is great at tailoring the treatment to suit my specific needs even if this changes on a weekly basis. Along with helping to relieve the tension in my shoulders, Jo’s head massages ensure I leave my treatment feeling totally relaxed and ready for the week ahead.”
